Rigging up a new survival course

AN offshore safety and survival training firm is continuing its expansion by launching courses for industrial and petrochemical sites.
The decision by Falck Nutec follows its £575,000 investment in its facility at Haverton Hill, Billingham, near Stockton, last year, to enable it to train workers for the offshore wind industry.
The latest move, in a partnership with Altor Risk Group, will see the Danish owned firm launch an incident management training course next month.
Falck Nutec ismainly recognised for offshore survival and safety training and said its North-East facility had enjoyed a successful start to the year, thanks to a range of selfsponsored individuals undertaking basic offshore training.
UK managing director Graham Gall said: "We are frequently made aware of the various risks encountered when individuals work offshore. Additionally, we are looking to build on our existing knowledge in similar sectors to help provide practical training to local businesses on how to react, respond, and manage such events.
"The new course is as applicable to all sized businesses which encounter particularly challenging daily operations, with potentially hazardous materials."
Its investment last year, to simulate the potentially lifethreatening situations faced by offshore wind workers in the North Sea, included a 24metre wind turbine tower, an external boat transfer simulator, rigging and workshops.
